The UCSF Eureka Research Platform

The UCSF Eureka Research Platform is a hub for online medical research studies. As lead designer, I was tasked with improving participant engagement with the platform. Here was what I designed as part of this initiative:

  • Eureka website where participants can learn about the many studies on the platform (and researchers can learn more about building their study with Eureka). See the site

  • Discoveries blog where stories and updates from all Eureka studies are posted. This gives participants feedback on what their studies are accomplishing. See the blog

  • Testimonials allowing potential participants to hear why current participants are giving their time. All participation in studies is altruistic. See an example

  • Enrollment counter that allows participants to see live updates on how many others are participating in the study. Eureka’s COVID-19 Study has over 100,000 participants. See an example

  • The design system of reusable front-end components used across studies.
